How has the play macbeth lost significance to our society today?

In Macbeth, most of the actions Macbeth takes are prompted by women(the witches prophecy, conspiracy to murder). In today's society, it is women(single mothers) who work, pay the bills, cook dinner, basically take care of everyone but themselves(children, husbands). Basically, traditional gender roles have been reversed, just like in Shakespeare's Macbeth. There are also themes of greed and ambition that are still relevant today.
