Do you believe life could evolve from nonliving matter?
(abiogenesis) All it would take is a strand of DNA, a self-duplicating molecule for the process to start, many chemicals are found naturally on the earth, and DNA is just a chemical (deoxyribonucleic acid). Research indicates what the atmosphere and conditions of the early earth that existed several billion years ago was like, by simulating these natural conditions in 1953 Stanley Miller and Harold Urey produced polypeptides by heating amino acids.Recent synthesis of RNA and DNA in the lab strengthens the possibility life could have generated from nonliving matter. The key element in this expierement is that it was done by simulating the NATURAL conditions of early earth. they demonstrated that nature could produce DNA using the gases early earth was made up of and exposing them to elecricity, ultraviolet, ionizing radiation, such as x rays, cosmic rays, gamma rays, heat and so on.
