Can I travel to Panama from the US with an expired Pport?

I'm Panamanian but I have been a USA resident for the last 7 years, I haven't seen my mom and brothers and sisters for that long. I had a baby and is her first granddaughter so I want to go and visit with my baby for 2 months and one week. But my Panamanian pport is expired, so I was wondering if I can leave USA with the expired pport and a green card and once in Panama I can renew the panamenian pport so i can re-enter the USA. Is this possible?
